This was our first time to eat in this smaller, limited seating restaurant (approx 50-60). The parking lot was packed, indicating the food was most likely top notch. We left our name & # in party & had only a short wait before being shown to our table. As soon as we were seated, a very friendly young lady, Jessica, took our drink order, returning very quickly & (seeing as how we knew what we wanted)took our lunch order. We each ordered a $4.95 lunch special. hubby ordering the grilled liver & onions, sweet potato casserole, fried okra & hush puppies. I ordered the chicken pot pie, green bean casserole, tossed salad & hush puppie. Beverages & dessert was included in the meal price. The food was hot & attractively served, wait staff was very helpful & attentive. Yes, we would go back, although a bit later than noon but before 1. Lunch specials do have a time limit. We are snowbirds, spending the winter in the area.

The best choice.

The very best fried mushrooms anywhere, only problem is you get so many if there are only 2 of you if you eat them all you won't eat your meal. We have tried almost every item including the big platters and have never been disappointed. They were recommend to us 10 years ago when we switched to Al from Fl. and we made the mistake of not going. don't be put off by the outside of the building which we were. Once you go you have to go back every trip sometine three or four times. Staff is very friendly also will stop and talk if you go early when they can.

I agree it would help if it was larger. This time we have 32 people in our group so guess we will go in shifts are we will go before they come in.

best shrimp i've ever had.

I would guess this is a local favorite. Went away thinking I've never had any better seafood. They just need a bigger place.

Nice people, good service, but food is bland and a bit overpriced

King Neptune's has a very casual, welcoming atmosphere with a friendly waitstaff. They are very receptive to families as well as couples and groups. The food leaves a little to be desired, however. I ordered a fried soft shell crab po-boy (served with re-heated frozen fries) which was okay at best. My wife had a fried fish (identified as tilapia) and shrimp combo plate, also nothing special. We had a six fried shrimp addition at $2.99, which we enjoyed much more than the main dishes we ordered. I think it would help if they were a bit more aggressive with the seasoning. At a tab of almost $60 for 2 adults and 2 four-year olds, I would expect food of better quality.
